What is Foster Care?

When a child is placed in foster care during a crisis, they are placed in a temporary, safe household. Adult caregivers, also known as Foster Parents or Resource Parents, become an important component of the child's support system, providing them with basic necessities and healing programs to help them cope with the trauma they have experienced. Resource Parents collaborate with the child's social workers, teachers, and doctors to nurture, love, and advocate for the child's needs until the child is reunited with their birth family or adopted.
